How I work

I like a blank canvas. I also like picking up a canvas that's already been started and helping it become something more.

Taking an idea and molding the messy middle, before anything has a name, into a shape. That's one thing I'm useful for. Brainstorming the project. Developing the strategy. Building the plan. Identifying blind spots. Getting things moving. I can take something all the way to launch. I have, many times.

This is the thinking behind the Podcast Design Method →.

Picking up an existing project and developing its potential is the other. Pulling at levers, implementing strategy, and changing course based on what happens. That's not a lesser version of the first thing — it's the same instinct, applied later.

I'll be honest about the part I don't love: post-production. I can do it. Other people are better at it, and happier doing it.

So here's how I actually work best: I help you find the shape of the thing, new or already running. We build it together. Then you run with it on your own, or we keep going, and I stay close, overseeing its growth.

If you've got an idea that needs a spine, start with a Diagnostic Report if your show already exists, or Design Days if it doesn't yet.

If you've got something running that's lost its shape, that's the same conversation.
If you need someone to sit in the edit bay forever, I'm not your guy, but I know who they are.
