Most podcasts fail before episode ten.
Not because the audio is bad. Because the thinking was rushed.
Every week, another podcast launches with a microphone, a guest list, and good intentions. And every week, another podcast quietly disappears, not because the host wasn't talented, but because the foundation was never built.
The questions that determine whether a podcast lasts are rarely asked before recording begins.
Who is this for — specifically?
Why should it exist?
What makes it different from the thousands of shows already competing for the same listener's attention?
What role does it play in the business, the brand, or the career behind it?
These are not production questions. They are strategy questions.
And they are the questions Sean Loots has spent nearly two decades learning how to answer.
Why do most podcasts fail?
Because the thinking is done after the recording starts, not before.
Most podcasters make strategic decisions - about audience, positioning, format, and purpose - by accident, under pressure, or not at all.
The result is a show that lacks direction, loses momentum, and quietly disappears before it ever finds its audience.
The solution is not better equipment or more episodes.
It is better thinking, applied earlier.

The Podcast Design Method.
Every podcast Sean works on is built through the same proprietary framework developed over nearly two decades of broadcasting, strategy, and working with founders and creatives across Africa and beyond.
It is built on the recognition that podcasting is a design discipline.
The best shows are not recorded and refined into shape.
They are designed with intention before a single word is spoken.
The Podcast Design Method structures that thinking into four stages applied in the right order, for the right reasons, with a clear outcome at every step.
Stage 1: Intent
Before anything else, we establish the strategic foundation of the show. Who is this podcast for, specifically? Why should it exist? What does it offer a listener that nothing else does? Intent is the work most podcasters skip. It is also the work that determines everything that follows.
Stage 2: Form
With intent established, we design the architecture of the show. Episode length, format, recurring structure, tone, storytelling approach. Every element is chosen deliberately, not defaulted to industry convention. Form is where strategy becomes structure. The decisions made here determine whether the show is sustainable to produce and immediately recognisable to its audience.
Stage 3: Voice
A well-designed podcast fails if the host isn't ready to carry it. In this stage we develop the host's voice and on-mic presence, and build the trailer, the first public expression of the show's identity.
By the end of this stage, the show sounds like it has always known what it is.
Stage 4: Release
The final stage turns strategy into action. Distribution setup, platform selection, publishing rhythm, and a launch roadmap built around the show's specific audience and goals. Release determines whether the right people find the show, or whether it launches into silence.
The Podcast Design Method is the foundation of the Podcast Launch Accelerator.
Start a podcast the right way.
Podcast Launch Accelerator
A focused strategic engagement that delivers the Podcast Design Method, taking your podcast from idea to launch-ready concept in four to eight weeks. Together we design the strategy, structure and purpose of your podcast before you ever press record.
This is for founders, business leaders and creatives who are serious about building something that lasts.
If you are looking for a quick setup or a production-only service, this is not it. If you want your podcast built on a foundation that holds, this is where we start.
You leave with:
A clear podcast positioning, a defined audience, a designed episode structure, a trailer concept, a distribution setup, and a launch roadmap built around your goals.

Already have a podcast?
Not every client is starting from scratch. If your show already exists but something isn't working - or you are ready to take it further - there are four ways Sean works with established podcasters.
Find out What's Holding Your Show Back
The Podcast Diagnostic Report is a focused, professional audit of your existing podcast. Sean reviews your episodes and listener touchpoints, identifies what is working and what is getting in the way, and delivers a structured written report with a one-to-one walkthrough of the findings.
This is clarity, not commitment.
Build a Long-Term Podcast Partnership
The Podcast Episode Engine is for podcasters who see their show as an ongoing platform. Sean works alongside you across the full lifecycle of your podcast - strategy, production, storytelling, and ongoing refinement - so your show stays consistent, intentional, and strong over time.
This is shared creative responsibility, not outsourced production.
Record and Produce at Latitude Podcast Studio
Professional audio and video podcast production at Latitude Podcast Studio - Cape Town's highest podcast studio, on the ninth floor of Latitude Aparthotel with views of Lion's Head.
